Blogging is far more than just a place to post content. If it was purely that, a blogger’s journey would be rather dull, wouldn’t you agree?
Decide to begin blogging and be part of the fun journey, excitement, and exploration. How could you possibly resist!

1. Meet People From All Over The World Via Social Media
Since starting my blogging career in 2012, I have been fortunate enough to meet many wonderful people from literally all over the world. I have never actually met any of these people, but I have built up a close enough relationship that I would actually now call some of these people my friends.
How did I meet these people?
Well, it was purely through my engagement with social media. Your social media accounts are where you can build followers to your blog, but you can also have the FUN!
This is where you can engage, be part of communities and groups and totally be yourself. In fact, you should be yourself! You are much more likely to gain people’s attention if you are your normal jovial self rather than hiding behind a mask.
The wider the circle of networks you develop, the more chance you will have of those people sharing your content, building up wider networks, and receiving a lot more traffic to your site. This is a real win-win for everyone!
2. Obtain Traffic You Would Not Normally Encounter
If you have a business, then it is a great idea to begin blogging as a way of reaching out to customers who would not normally have found you.
Your blog is your own piece of internet space, so use it as you will promote yourself. Updating your blog on a regular basis will mean the Google search engines will see fresh content…and they love fresh content!
The more you work on your content, your SEO, and your social networking, the higher the ranking you will see, and the more visitors coming your way. It’s pretty exciting right?!
3. Drive Traffic To Your Older Content Which Will Get Shared
Blogging gives a fantastic way to interlink your content. In new posts, you should link to older posts that circulate the traffic around your site. It also means that you can tap into older content at certain times of the year. When you begin blogging it is wise to work on your link building from the very beginning.
Another blog I own is Smart Party Planning. This site is obviously based around all things party, and there are certain holidays that occur every year. You know them…Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc.
Each year I add fresh content to the site, but I also link back to older posts and promote them. As your social networks grow, they might not be aware of older content, so show them off!!
Often when people begin blogging they think that you upload posts and then forget about them. The opposite is in fact true. Constantly draw on your previous content and use linking strategies to maximize the content’s reach.
4. Build An Email List
Have you heard before how important it is to build an email or contact list when you are in business? Well, when you begin blogging you can easily do just that!
Simply adding a subscription box to your site, allows the option for readers to sign up. They are giving you permission to be updated with new content, and new products that you may have for sale. Don’t underestimate the power of an email list for your earning potential!
5. Sell Products
A blog is a great way to sell products if you own a business. You simply have the world at your feet, so put your products out there for people to see! Of course, if your products are digital then it doesn’t matter where in the world you sell.
You may have a product that can only be sold to people in your local area, for instance, it would be difficult to ship a cheesecake overseas or book photograph family sessions with those not in your local area, but that doesn’t mean a blog won’t be useful for you.
If this is the case, you simply target your local area in your blogging, and that is done via effective SEO. Nothing stops you from making a blog successful for your business, regardless of your niche!
A blog is a multi-purpose tool that can be used in so many areas. The more blogging tips that you gain, the easier it will become and the more excited you will be about it.
